General Practitioner (Offshore Oil and Gas)

Job Summary: As a General Practitioner working in the offshore oil and gas industry, you will be responsible for providing medical care and support to the crew and personnel on an offshore rig or platform. Your primary role is to ensure the health and well-being of all employees in the challenging offshore environment.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Medical Care:

   • Provide general medical care and treatment to employees as needed.
   • Diagnose and treat common illnesses and injuries.
   • Administer first aid and emergency medical care when required.

2. Medical Records:

   • Maintain accurate and confidential medical records for all personnel.
   • Document all medical treatments, prescriptions, and patient interactions.

3. Emergency Response:

   • Be prepared to respond to medical emergencies and coordinate evacuations if necessary.
   • Participate in safety drills and training to ensure readiness for emergencies.

4. Health Promotion:

   • Provide health education and preventive care advice to employees.
   • Promote a culture of health and safety within the offshore community.

5. Medication and Supply Management:

   • Manage medical supplies and medications, ensuring that stock levels are maintained and that they are properly stored and administered.

6. Collaboration:

   • Collaborate with other medical and safety personnel on the rig to address health and safety concerns.
   • Coordinate with onshore medical facilities for more advanced medical cases.

7. Regulatory Compliance:

   • Ensure compliance with relevant industry health and safety regulations and standards.
   • Stay up-to-date with industry best practices and guidelines.

Qualifications:

• Medical degree (MD or equivalent).
• Valid medical license and certification.
• Experience in general practice, emergency medicine, or occupational health is preferred.
• Basic life support (BLS) and advanced cardiac life support (ACLS) certification.
• Knowledge of offshore safety protocols and procedures is a plus.
